Detailed route description

Saturday

Boarding from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm in the port in Rijeka, followed by introductions and getting to know the crew as well as the rest of the passengers. Shortly afterward, we shall push off from the mainland and head towards the island of Krk, the largest island in the Adriatic. After approximately 3 hours we shall enter port in Punat. Punat is situated in a deep, peaceful bay, where the picturesque little islet of Kosljun is located with a small monastery. Dinner and overnight stay in Punat.

Sunday

Early in the morning we shall head towards Stara Baska. The village is situated on the hills of the highest peak on the island of Krk, Obzova (569m). We shall take a walk from Stara Baska, through the landscape of Kaljina and Spuhotina, to the top of Veli Hlam (482 m), with a breathtaking view of the Baska valley, with its rich green color that separates the rest of the landscape we shall walk through. Across Vratudiha we shall head downward to the village of Batomalj and then onward to Jurandvora. Here you will have the opportunity to visit Sveta Lucija, the church where the Baska Stone Tablet is kept. It is one of the oldest documents of the Croatian language written in Glagolithic script. After visiting the church, we shall walk further down the asphalt road to Baska, located 2 kilometers away, where our boat will be waiting for us. Overnight stay in Baska. Walking time approximately 4:50 h, climb and descent approximately 480 m

Monday

Today our sailboat will take us to Rab, the main city of the island bearing the same name. We shall have until lunchtime to walk through the three streets (upper, middle and lower street) of the old town of Rab, with its striking bell towers, churches and chapels. After lunch we shall embark on today’s walking route through the village of Mundanije, and onward on the beautiful walking path. During our walk we shall always open and close the doors of the old walls. These walls surround the pastures where one can often see a flock of sheep. We shall then arrive at the top of Kamenjak (410 m), and from there enjoy the view of the islands, their rocky environment to the north and rich greenery to the south, as well as the spectacular view of the Velebit massif on the mainland. We shall return the same way we came to our boat in the port in Rab. Walking time approximately 4:00 h, climb and descent approximately 409 m

Tuesday

After breakfast we shall leave the island of Rab and sail along the island of Ilovik and the southern part of the island of Losinj until we reach Mali Losinj. In this area one can often see dolphins enjoying themselves and playing in the waves. After lunch we shall head for the top of St. Ivan, by taking the path known as the Calvary. From here the view stretches not only to the picturesque town of Veli Losinj, but also to the islands of Cres, Krk and Rab. We shall descend to Veli Losinj and then walk along the shoreline back to the port in Mali Losinj. Walking time approximately 3:50-4:00 h, climb and descent approximately 240 m

Wednesday

We shall leave Mali Losinj right after breakfast and sail along the island of Unije to Osor. Today, the nearly abandoned town is famous for its “Musical nights in Osor”, which take place every year in the summer on the bascule bridge that connects the island of Cres and the island of Losinj, once a single unique island. Twice a day the bridge is manually lifted to allow the passage of small boats. After watching the bridge being raised, we shall take the bus to Nerezine, from where we shall begin our climb of Osorsica Mountain. We shall first walk to the peak of St. Mihovil and then onward to the highest point, Televrin (589 m), and from there return to the boat that will be waiting for us in Osor. Depending on the weather we shall spend the night in Martinscici on the island of Cres or in one of the nearby bays. Walking time approximately5:00 h, climb 530m, descent 588 m

Thursday

Today’s walking route will begin in Martinscici – through the village of Vidovici, along vineyards and grazing pastures, as well as through a thick pine forest to the top of Helm (482 m). We shall be greeted by flocks of sheep along the way. We shall then walk to the picturesque village known as Lubenice, situated high on a cliff. After taking a short break we shall continue our walk through grazing pastures and olive groves to Valun bay where our boat will be waiting to take us to Lovran where we shall spend the night. Walking time approximately5:00 h, climb and descent approximately 480 m

Friday

After breakfast we shall walk “lungomare” on a path that goes directly along the shoreline. We shall pass through places such as Ika and Icici and arrive– accompanied by the sound of the waves breaking – in Opatija. Opatija was one of the most well-known tourist destinations in Croatia that was frequented by members of high society during the time of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Today, the charm of that period is still visible. After having lunch on the boat we shall set out on the last route of our trip – to Rijeka, where we are expected to arrive late in the afternoon. Walking time approximately3:00 h, no climb or descent

Saturday

After breakfast disembarkment at around 9 am. Possible visits to museums etc. are not included in the price of this trip.
